J’ai décidé de réunir les trois tomes de la série « Elements of Chemistry » dans un seul article car les trois tomes sont assez courts et ça aurait pu de valeur ajoutée de les traiter individuellement. Cette série est la première trilogie d’une série de 9 romans (3 séries de 3 tomes) nommée Hypothesis. Découvrez ici la 2° trilogie, Law of Physics.
Constituée de trois (petits) tomes, Elements of Chemistry raconte l’histoire de Kaitlyn et Martin.
J’avoue avoir un passif un peu particulière avec cette trilogie. Lorsque j’ai lu le premier tome pour la première fois, j’étais clairement dans une phase « mauvais moment, mauvais livre » et je ne l’ai pas apprécié. En fait, je pensais que la Kaitlyn du livre était la Kate de Knitting in the City… Alors que pas du tout !
Et à l’époque, je ne voulais pas d’une histoire que ni finisse pas en Happy Ending. (Je n’en veux toujours pas d’ailleurs mais j’ai fini par comprendre que c’était deux personnes différentes donc la perspective était totalement différente)
Je l’ai finalement repris quelques mois (voire année) plus tard lorsqu’une amie a commencé à le lire et à m’en parler et je l’ai redécouvert.
C’est une histoire qui se lit facilement et qu’on prend plaisir à relire. J’avoue avoir une préférence pour le dernier tome que je trouve plus mature que les deux précédents. Si j’ai bien apprécié l’histoire, j’ai toujours trouvé que la trame du premier tome était peu crédible… Et Martin est clairement plus attachant dans le dernier tome que dans le premier où son comportement est un peu toxique. Mais je vous laisserais vous faire votre avis !
En attendant, ce livre a un parfum de vacances, les dialogues sont drôles, il y a une vraie alchimie entre les deux personnages principaux. On reconnaît bien la patte Penny Reid, une auteur qui gagne à être connue.
Si vous ne connaissez pas sa série « Winston Brothers », je vous la recommande ! Et si vous ne savez pas par où commencer, rendez-vous ici, je vous ai fait la liste ordonnée des romans de Penny Reid, il est préférable de suivre l’ordre car ses personnages sont interconnectés.
